Possible To Get From CDG To BVA In 1 Hour By Taxi?

Sat Jun 12, 2010 10:50 pm

I'm thinking of getting on the AF A380 between LHR and CDG and the cheapest option for me would be to route SNN-LHR-CDG, BVA-SNN. Now AF1981 arrives at CDG at 15:05 local and FR133 departs BVA for SNN at 17:25. Would it be possible to make the connection by taxi and if so how much would the taxi cost roughly?

The drive from CDG T2 to BVA is quoted as 80 km / 1h 03 min by Google Maps.
However you will need to factor in that deplaning takes some time, rushing through the terminal, passport control.

I used taxi from CDG T1 to Suresnes (and back) a couple of times a few years ago, which is a 34 km drive to west of Bois de Bologne.
IIRC, fare was around the 40-45 € mark (IIRC largely based on distance, not travel time which was up to 1 hour).
So, a 80 km drive to BVA should set you back by around (very roughly) 100 EUR.

As you only have 2h20 to make the connection, I would not risk it.
For me 2h20 is just enough time to make a connection within CDG T2 - or between T2 and T1, but nothing more.

too short IMO
you have to consider that delays/long taxi times from LHR are frequent with their 2 runways operations only. Arriving at CDG, deplaning an A380 can take some time due to the number of pax (if you are at the back). AF A380 gates are in the S3 satellite of term 2E. This means, you have to walk, sometimes a long one, to the automatic train that transports you to the main part of 2E where you have to pass immigration. There, line can be long due to the number of pax in the A380 and you may add a few other jumbos who arrived at the same time as you...Then add another 5 min walk to reach the taxi stand.
For the trip CDG-BVA by car, I never did it but Ht (post #1) indicates 80 km and 1hr in google map. With the traffic, it's better to consider 90 min to be safe.

Indeed I forgot to mention that the 1hr-flat estimate on Google Maps should be questionable short IMO even though a good portion of that trip would be on a motorway and one is not going into direction of central Paris.

I wouldn't take the risk. This is way too short. Not talking about possible irregularities. Furthermore you will pay a very high amount for the taxi, and then it would most likely be cheaper to book a flight back from CDG to SNN (even via somewhere) than paying for the taxi.

Thanks for the replies. I agree it's a lot of money to risk so I don't think I'll do it. Pity, the only other way for me was to do a SNN-LHR-CDG-LHR-SNN with EI/AF/BA but that came to around €270 (I could go to America for that) so no. Thanks anyway!

Would it be an option for you stay a night in Paris following the LHR-CDG flight before heading out to BVA for your flight to SNN ?

No, it would be fairly costly to stay the night in Paris I'd say (I'm a student!   ).

If you stayed in a Hotel Formule 1 it would be significantly cheaper than the EUR100 taxi ride
A random date in July shows a night at EUR 29.
A train from Paris Nord to Beauvais costs EUR 12.50,

Thanks for the help! But FR only have 3 weekly flights between BVA and SNN so my dates are fairly restrictive and the AF fares are quite high on the dates available to me (I added it up and it came to around €240 - one day I'll be able to fly across the Atlantic on the A380 for that!). Thanks anyway though.

No worries

Another idea, how about an Aer Lingus flight to DUB and train / bus back to Limerick from there? They seem to be around the EUR80 mark.
