Fortuitous United Elite Status

Thu Jun 17, 2010 8:40 pm

All

Last Sep, I requested United for a Premier Executive status (based on my Platinum status on Delta). I eventually fell short of flying the required minimum mileage to retain that status. Now, the United Website shows my status as 'Member', which is what it should be. However, when I purchased an award ticket last week, I was allowed to pick seats in Economy Plus for no charge despite seats being available in Economy. Today, when I checked in online, the boarding pass had 'Prem Exec' printed on it.

Isn't this weird?

Being in the IT industry, I can guess that United' website / Online database is different from their reservations/ticketing database. But, I am surprised that they are not kept in synch.

Well - nobody mention me to United now

You're saying that UA actually gave you the status you had on DL? Well, that's interesting.. Try that with AA and they'll hit you with a 90 day challenge that you must pay for. No freebie cross airline status transfers there...

Hi, No, I didn't mean to give that impression. I was platinum on DL, and United gave me 'Gold' (which I was happy with). It was indeed a 90 day challenge. I didn't have to pay for it though.
