TAM Direct To GIG, Is She Ready?

Sat Jul 24, 2010 3:21 pm

Early August I will need to go to Europe to GIG. Will TAM be flying or is TAP a better option? I wish to stay on STAR! If I took Swiss, does the A340 have the new Swiss C seat?
The world is missing love, let's use our flights to spread it!

TAM will be flying FRA-GIG and LHR-GIG (besides CDG-GIG) from Aug 10. Considering TAM options, i would say that the fact of the early arrival (CDG arrives 4:50 AM, FRA will arrive 7 AM and LHR around 5:30 AM) and overnight flights taking advantage of the time difference between Europe and Brazil provides superior option in my view.
TAP flights are daylight from LIS and OPO. LX problems is that you will have to connect and will arrive not so early.

Plus, TAM offers First Class on the 3 routes. TP only offers business.
New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

What is the service like in economy on TAM transatlantic flights?
Are the meals any good?

I'll be making a lot of trips to Brasil soon.
I'm a Flying Blue member, so the obvious choice for me would be KLM or Air France.

But the connection times (in Brasil) don't seem to be very good.

I have flown FRA-GRU last year with TAM in economy and the service was not bad, but bothing special.

There were suppose to be three choices for dinner (beef, chicken, pasta), but when the FA reached my row he just threw pasta on my table. But it was not that bad, it tasted good. And as far I can remember the other two options looked ok too.

The 3-4-3 configuration feels a bit cramped on the 777-300ER, but both flights in general were not bad. I would consider flying TAM again if I would have to go to Brazil again.
