Are Your Initials An Iata Code?

Thu Sep 09, 2010 10:37 pm

So I'm sat around wasting my life perusing the interwebs (usually A.net and a select few other sites) and randomly wondered "I wonder if my initials are an IATA code?" Does this mean I have reached a new level of A.net geekdom... absolutely hehe. So do your initials form an IATA code?

Mine are CAJ which is Canaima, Venezuela, while my partner is KMH which is Kuruman, SA.

So how about yours? If you are fortunate enough to have 4 initials, do they form an ICAO code?

Cheers

Both my old and new name (same first/middle name, different surname) don't show up as an airport. (AJD and AJW). My girlfriend (MSH) isn't one either.

Yep, Ramagundam in India. Funny idea, never checked that before. I just know one professor of my university, which has his last name being the same as some waypoint over the Uraine. He keeps mentioning it whenever possible

I don't have a middle name, so my initials are an airline code:

ML = Midway Airlines

My partner's initials:

NCG = Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, México

Funny thread - thanks for posting!

SKW

I have absolutely no idea whether that forms an IATA code. A quick search of IATA codes yielded no results.

My full initials are JJC which is the IATA designator for Atizapán de Zaragoza, Mexico

If I omit my middle name leaving just JC which is the IATA designator for JAL Express a feeder for JAL flying a small fleet of 737 and M80 equipment.

I don't believe JJC is a ICAO designator for any airline.

As AHTL I obviously don't fit an IATA code, and no airline uses AL.

However, AL is the Boeing customer designator for Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE).
