Show Us Your Frequent Flyer Cards

Fri Sep 24, 2010 10:22 am

I know we all fly a lot on here but I was wondering what frequent flyer cards and what status we all have. I only have BMI Gold although I do have other accounts with miles in but no status. So just for fun, I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours.
According to one of my colleagues, my problem is that I'm addicted to travel!

How could I refuse such an offer? I only have one membership with tier status: Emirates Skywards, currently Silver but my next flight achieves Gold. Haven't used the Kris membership recently, so no status.

Edited to correct spelling.

I've got a BMI FF account, but no card. In all fairness, I've never booked with them so it's not the end of the world.

That's funny. Were you thinking of booking and changed your mind, or do you just like collecting cards?

All the world loves a show-off  . That Delta one looks pretty flimsy. Is it actually plastic? It looks like cardboard in the picture.

"Print, cut, fold and keep until your permanent card arrives." Let me see, I signed up for SkyMiles in January. A pretty long time for delivery, isn't it? Maybe I should e-mail them and ask when I'll finally get the card. It's not that I need it, but I would like it nonetheless, and I still got space in my wallet.

Dude, not bad!

You'll receive the welcoming kit with the card, etc after you earn 5,000 miles.

Okay, I didn't know that.   Just checked my SM account, I have actually accumulated more than 5,000 miles by now. So I guess that I'll receive something from Delta in the next time?

This is a fairly common condition of membership. You either have to have accumulated a minimum number of miles or flown a minimum number of sectors before a plastic card and luggage tags, whatever are sent out.
It helps reduce the expense incurred by people who sign up and then never fly.

I never denied that. It doesn't take away from the fact that you're a show-off.

What's the point when you have such an array of Gold cards?

In retrospect, it definitely makes sense. I can't remember having seen this written somewhere when I signed up, though (most probably missed it). I actually took this step because I had booked 4 non-refundable flights on Delta that I then connected to my FF number... so I figured it was enough to send me the card. Well, now that I have taken the flights in earnest, I'm keen on seeing what the airline is hopefully going to send me. Luggage tag, you say?   That would be really nice.

Delta Platinum Medallion (Diamond in about 2-3 weeks)
Delta SkyClub member
Continental Platinum Elite
Continental Presidents Club member
United Premier
US Airways Silver Preferred
bmi Silver

That's it for airlines. Also a Hyatt Diamond, Starwood Gold and Marriott Silver, plus a few rental car elite statuses.

Not too bad for being 24 years old.

Pretty damned impressive! I thought I'd done well getting BD Gold at 26 but mine is nothing compared to that.

6 to 8 weeks after you reached 5,000 miles you should be receiving it. If not make sure you call and ask them why you haven't received it so far, etc.

It was just a case of I like a lot of the airlines that are in Star Alliance. I have flown them before, just not as a FF card holder so I've got no points with them. Should I have a card or not? They never bothered to send me one.

I think I just passed 100k elite qualifying miles on Delta today, all of which have been domestic (I can't keep track anymore). I'll make Diamond in 19 days, most likely on a flight from Miami to Kennedy, and all my travel in between is domestic.

Looking forward to getting the free SkyClub though - will save me $300 a year alone.

See http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/src/aspx/p...p.aspx?popup=dc_termsandconditions
Unless you are under 18, it would seem that you should as I can't see a minimum miles or sector requirement in the terms and conditions on BMI's website. But for a definitive answer, you're best contacting them, as there may be additional terms that are not posted in an obvious location.

True, though while I have my paper United card with a decent number of miles on it, I had to join Asiana Club just to view fares on a domestic flight, and they sent me this slick number:

OK. What day of the week is it? Not being funny but when it is Wednesday in Perth it could still be Tuesday elsewhere.

How did you get on with your enquiry? Let me guess, you were transferred to some very friendly people in Mumbai.

Serioulsy though, were you able to sort out whether you would get a card and be able to claim miles retrospectively?

Iberia Club Fiesta
Lufthansa Hon Circle
Air France Flying Blue

Until last year I have the Air France Flying Blue Platinum status but a decline in flights and the use of some miles to fly to United States with my family did the downgrading in this status.
