Spotting At LHR And LCY

Sun Oct 03, 2010 6:04 pm

Hi guys, I will go to London next week and want to catch some nice birds.
Can you give me any advice, where the best places at theses two airports are?
And at LHR, what is the most common landing direction?

Thanks in advance

Johannes

At Heathrow you can bet that they'll be landing on the 27's. They swap runways at 3PM though, so it's not just one for takeoff and one for landing.

You can head down to a place called Caines Lane, but it's a pain to get to without a car. Great spot just before 27L, and if you can get to Hatton Cross tube station, it's just up the road.

Remember, there not doing that at the moment, constant 27L landing (cant recall until when)
Most of today they have been on 9L landings, 9R takeoff.

Cains Lane is only 5 min walk from Myrtle Ave lol.

If it's bad weather why don't you head for Caffe Nero in Terminal 5? If you have 09L arrivals you'll have a great time. Even for 27R departures it's pretty good too.

Last time I was at T5 there were a few guys hanging around outside at the drop off point of the terminal taking pics and stuff. At least you're not far from a cup of coffee and a loo, too.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.
