How Does BA Calculate The Tier Points?

Sun Nov 21, 2010 6:14 pm

Hello -
I want to know how does BA calculate the tier points for each flight, before I will contact BA for more info. The thing is that me and one of my friends book different flights through cheapoair.com, but we used BA for the flights over the pond. He did SOF - LHR - IAD and he got 40 points for SOF - LHR segment and 60 points for LHR - IAD segment.
I did SKP - BUD - LGW - MCO and I got this:

- SKP - BUD: 20 points
- BUD - LGW: 20 points
- LGW - MCO: 30 points

The major difference is the transatlantic flight, and why I would earn less tier points on longer flight (4336 miles) then his flight which was 3672 miles.

Thanks

You try to look at the BA website?

"Tier Points are collected based on the frequency, travel class and distance of your journey."

Here is a calculator

From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California
