TFS-LGW 1983 - Which Airline Were We Parked Near?

Tue Nov 23, 2010 8:41 pm

Hope someone can help me.

Back in February 1983 I took my first from LGW - TFS with Orion Airways (remember them?) on one of their 732s.

For the return flight we were parked on the apron next to a Tristar (I remember reading this on the no 2 engine intake) but I don't remember which airlines it belonged to.

I think it had red as part of its livery (so thought it might be LTU) but can't be sure.

Can anyone let me know which airlines back then operated Tristars into TFS?

I wondered if if was British Airtours to start with as they had some red...

but suspect that it was indeed LTU (very red)

I did wonder about Court Line too as they had the "Tristar" name on the tail, but they were long gone by 1983. Plus, they were more pink than red.
