Koreanair.com - No Booking W/o Skypass-Nr?

Wed Dec 08, 2010 10:59 am

I have been trying to search for domestic flights in (South-)Korea on koreanair.com (for which one has to select "Korea" as region on the entry screen), but once flights are picked, the website persist in logging in with a Skypass Number or a mandatory enrolment in Skypass for new users.
Without this step, the grand total does not get displayed making comaprisons of actual fares impossible.

The initial fares shown appear to be considerably lower than what Expedia and the likes quote (even after having added Fuel Surcharge and Airport fees mentioned on koreanair.com separately), but one never knows if the fares shown actually are available w/o having received a final quote..

I do not want to enrol in Skypass, as I already am a member of AF/KL's FB.

Does anybody know a work around for this ?

Are you able to call a KE office or a local gsa from where you are?

Sure, but that's not exactly what I was looking for, as I am still in "planning"-phase, trying to set up daytrips using multiple carriers.

I couldn't find a way personally. OZ is the same way. (It's how I ended up with an Asiana Club card.)

I'll add 2 other points. I found KE and OZ to have good customer service by phone. I explained I was just looking for a quote for a domestic flight. Later when I bit the bullet and got the FF# I went to book online but had a lot of trouble with the payment portion. Even though the site was for foreigners, I couldn't get the payment to process on any of my cards.

Out of curiosity, where are you trying to go? The high speed KTX just opened an expansion, in the South East. It's not a bad experience (though it pales in comparison to the ICE 3.)

Good luck!

GMP - CJU - GMP reliving the AB6-experience which has become very scarce nowadays here in Europe.
Flights to choose from are plenty - and I am considering to chip in another side trip from CJU ...

Flights on OZ are much cheaper on independent booking engines than KE.
For some routes, they first show comparable fares, but once trying to book KE; the quote rises to almost double - hence why I am ("was", if unable to proceed) curious to see actual quote on KE's own website.
Fares on OZ do not increase - but they do not operate any AB6's ...

Good to know. It happened to me before with some LCC in the U.S., whom calling internationally was a no-no. So they lost my business.
