Connection In FRA

Wed Dec 08, 2010 2:32 pm

Hey a.netters, I have a few family members flying into MCO over the holidays. They have a 1 hour and 15 minute connection in FRA, both departing and arriving from Terminal 1. Will they have enough time to catch their flight, if all goes well?

Terminal 1 has 3 concourses at FRA, but these are interconnected.
Where are they inbound from ? If it is a non-Schengen origin they should stay clear of immigration counters and use the Skyline train between T1B/C and T1A if needed. One car is public, the other one non-Schengen sterile.

75 minutes is no problem for such a connection at all, weather permitting an ontime arrival.

They're coming from BEY on ME, then connecting on LH to MCO...will an agent be waiting for them outside the gate in FRA because of their short connection time. I remember once I connected through CDG with a 50 minute wait, and there was someone waiting to escort me through immigration and onto my next gate.

They should be able to connect in time with not much problem if most things are in their favor, especially if they have an agent waiting for them there should definately be no problem with 75 minutes

75 minutes by no means is "Short Connection" at FRA.
Therefore, they will be on their own making their way to departure gate.

It could be exciting if either or both aircraft park at a remote stand requiring a bus ride to or from the terminal. They never seem to bus you direct from plane to plane. On the other hand, LH doesn't like to have passengers miss their connections. If it is close they may have a minibus at the remote stand to pick up pax with tight connections, rush them to the "short connection" passport control, and then bus them to the terminal. I had this "service" about 18 months ago. I was flying with a 70 year old man who couldn't walk fast. We were escorted by an LH employee who sped us along as fast as he could go. When we got to the plane I didn't have time to take off my coat before the door slammed shut and we pushed back. Our connection time was 60 minutes. If no remote stands are involved it can still be a hassle if passport control is required, but tell an LH employee and they can be very helpful.

I just set up a new record this Sunday, plane landed at 18:05 on Rwy 25R, taxied all the way back to the second last gate at the east end of T2. De-boarded from the rear economy of a 757-200 and made it to gate A21 in T1 at 18:37, 2 mins after official gate closure. I have to admit, I ran most of the way and went straight to the front of the screening to skip the queue, but this is a net transit time of about 20 mins if you count from exiting the 757 to boarding the onwards flight.

I am sure your family will be fine
