United Airlines: What To Expect?

Fri Dec 10, 2010 1:25 am

Will be flying to DEN from LGA via ORD this summer on UA's A319/A320 and 777, just wanna ask how reliable is UA? I understand that their on time performance is better than all of the other major carriers in the US as stated on their website. I'm a UA Mileage plus member (i earned all the miles by flying a * carrier lol) So prices won't be a problem since I will be flying on UA's Saver Award (10,000 miles + $95.00) How are the FAs? Are there free drinks/snacks? Or no? Any extra info is appreciated.

PS: Does flying on a Saver Award ticket allow you to prebook your seat or no? Extra info is appreciated. Thanks

I lived in San Fran for nearly 17 years and therefore took UA most of the time I traveled. I literally can't count how many United flights I've been on, and the service, from the booking agents to the gate agents to the F/A's to baggage claim, has never been anything less than A++. I have no idea where it's gotten its negative reputation from. I get top-notch courtesy and consideration from them, and I'm always flying on deeply discounted, coach-cabin tickets; I'm also not some elite-level frequent flyer.

On flights of the LGA-ORD and ORD-DEN length, if you're in coach, don't expect anything more than a beverage and MAYBE a light snick-snack (pretzels, nuts, etc.). I'd bring a few protein bars, maybe some almonds, buy maybe a sammich to go from some airport eats. Since you're transiting through ORD, that means you can stop at Uno's!!

Sorry, I've never flown on award ticket so I can't answer the seat selection question.

Their A319 A/C dont have PTV's but rather the older TV that come down from the top. I wouldn't expect a meal on such a short flight...Probably just a snack and drink.

Customer Service is really good from my experience...and their flight attendants were friendly and funny.

Don't expect the greatest service, you might get a FA having a bad day...but all airlines have those.

I've always been a fan of United. I find their Y seat to be the most comfortable.

You can certainly choose your seat in advance, regardless of using miles for the ticket.

Yes! The reason why I'm excited flying with UA! Do they have the standard headphone thingies or the dual ones?

Standard miniplug sockets.

I keep a pair of Klipsch earbuds coiled up in my shirt pocket, and they work on every UA plane.

Which terminal is Uno's located? Would love to try a Chicago Deep Dish pizza, its ironic that I had my first deep dish pizza in the Philippines

Ah, I've collected so many headphones from different airlines, but some I had to pay like B6 and VX. I'll make sure I'll bring a good pair of headphones

According to O'Hare's official website, Pizzeria Uno can be found in Terminals 2, 3, and 5. They are open between 5:15am and 9:30pm.
