There are definitely some ANC
locals on this board that could provide more information, but I can help out a little. For traffic to/from the west, Kincaid Park (located at the far western end of Raspberry Road to the south of ANC
) provides some clear views. This location is nice for photographing arrivals on 7R as they approach over Knik Arm and naturally tends to be better in early light. Close up shots of aircraft will likely require a decent camera/lens combo, but is doable.
There are also several parks along Northern Lights Blvd. on the north side of ANC
that provide good views of aircraft to/from the north, particularly arrivals on 14. I believe there is a small parking area named "Airport Park" near the end of Northern Lights Blvd. that similarly allows shots of planes approaching 14 over Knik Arm, but also has a great view of downtown Anchorage and its mountainous backdrop across the Arm to the east.
There are also walking/biking trails along the coast connecting the two areas I mention above - I've never wandered the full path between them, but I imagine some good views could be afforded along the trail as well. If you decide to look for additional locations, the worst case scenario is really that you get the "regular" view in Alaska of amazing mountains and waterways without airplanes.
