Venezuela And The DC-9/MD-81

Sun Jan 02, 2011 4:57 pm

Hello everyone,

I'd like to know if any of you have experience with booking & flying the DC-9 in Venezuela.

Laser Airlines apparently operates three MD-81s, does anyone know where they fly to? There is no equipment type given on their website.

Also, from your experience, what is the best way of booking tickets for Laser, Aserca and Aeropostal? Their websites seem to crash daily and I barely got to the stage where I could purchase a ticket.

Thanks for any info.
Regards,
Loran

Might a problem to enter information "Cédula de Identidad" mandated when it comes to paying for a selected flight on laser.com.ve
Up to this state, the website was very responsive, even though no a/c-type was disclosed for a random CCS to PMV flight.

ASERCA: skyscanner refrerred to www.seat24.de for booking flights on Aserca. Looks to be a easy solution, even though I have not used them (seat24.de) before, so, no recommendation involved here.

None of the airlines in question seem to be represented by alternativeairlines.com

Well, their entire fleet consists of either DC9s or the MD81s, so regardless of the route you want to fly on them, you will have either.

CCS-PMV is a good idea, or you can book one way on Laser and return on Aeropostal or Aserca who will also certainly fly the type.

As for the booking, you could try contacting them directly or get in the touch with the friendly Venezuelan bunch of A.netter who could help you out (I haven't lived in VE since 1999 so I won't be of much help)

Or you could also go there and buy the tickets at the counters.

Hi HT and MIAspotter,

Many thanks for your advice. The web page does list Aserca and Conviasa flights, and booking seems easy. Equipment types are unfortunately not provided, but I think I can find someone who can share Amadeus schedules. I had also tried alternativeairlines.com and wideroe.no before, these are always my first two tries.

The last question will now be whether it will be a MD-81 or DC-9. Probably Amadeus should give me an indication again. Do you know whether their MD-81s are actually active? I haven't seen any photos, I think they were recently delivered from JAL or so.

Thanks again to both of you.
Best regards,
Loran

Hello Loran.

Actually Laser has Active 4 DC-9-32 and 3 MD-81.. usually the MD-81 Are used for the CCS-PMV-CCS flights, Principally on Weekends and Afternoon flights.. Last Year I took Laser twice to PMV and Both occations was in the MD-81.

The Best way to buy the tickets is directly here in the counters.. is secure for you..The other route that usually is operated by the MD is the CCS-VIG-CCS..

Hope that´s help. any question feel free to ask me

Great info orl777, many thanks. I will probably book several flights on them to be safe. If anyone has a recommendation how to book Laser tickets online or somewhere else upfront, I'd be glad to find out to reduce chances of a fully booked flight.

Thanks again!

Loran
