Swiss International RJ100 Question

I recently made a reservation to fly Swiss International Air between ZRH and FLR. The route is operated by RJ100 aircraft. I was assigned seats in row 95 and row 83. This surprised me as it seems hard to figure out how an aircraft with about 100 seats could have row numbers as high as 95. The reservation agent couldn't really explain why this numbering system was used, other than to explain the rows are numbered from the rear forward and row 95 was in fact the first row of economy.

So......does anyone know more about how the rows are numbered on Swiss's RJ100 and why they are numbered in an unusual way?

Something seems wrong here as the LX RJ100s have 21 rows (1-21).

That's exactly what I'm wondering about. I've spoken to LX twice and the assignment of rows 95 and 83 seems to be ok, but I can't figure it out. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact the aircraft is really operated by LX's regional partner.

Is the flight quite far out? I believe these high numbers are seen when the seat reservation is made quite a while before departure.
Next flights: MAN-ORK-LHR(EI)-MAN(BD); MAN-LHR(BD)-ORK (EI); DUB-ZRH-LAX (LX) LAX-YYZ (AC) YYZ-YHZ-LHR(AC)-DUB(BD)

Flight are in May, why do they use the high numbers for flights some time from departure. Thanks for the info.

Here is the link to the SWISS fleet (click on RJ 100). You will see that there are rows 1to12 and 14to21. I don't know if your route is an SWISS aircraft or a wet-leased from another company or if an other company flies that route in behalf of SWISS.

I read somewhere (don't remember exactly where, might have been on flyertalk), that these numbers are kind of codes in the sense of 95 = row 9 seat 5 (which would be 9E). Maybe somebody can confirm this.

Yes, 1674 is the flight. And I did notice the row numbers as shown on the web site. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that the flight is operated by SWISS European.

No, SWISS European is actually not a separate company. It is exactly the same as SWISS International. It is only called SWISS European because of the AVRO's pilots working contracts (they earn less than the Airbus pilots). As you see in my link to the SWISS fleet, the AVROs are there together with all other SWISS aircrafts.

This is exactly correct.
When I was working for the handling agent of Swiss at BRU, seat numbers of 95 or 83 like in your case, were common for reservations in the 'far future'. When is your flight? I bet it's quite a while from now.

Closer to departure, you will have a seat change in your booking, showing the new (correct) seat number.

Strange.
Even with reservations that far in the future LX used to be able to give me "real" seat numbers.

One reason might be the flexible allocation of the divider between Business and Economy Class, depending on flight bookings.

Anyway, enjoy LX's AVROs. With their 2-3 seating. leather seats and a good seat pitch they are a positive thing to ride in. Just remember that overhead bin space is limited. Even more if you should be seated under the wing, as overhead bins are smaller there.
To avoid this, you might want to get a seat allocated in the aft of the cabin, as under the wing outside views will be obstructed considerably by the engines.

Best seats are the first few rows where there's no obstruction from wings/engines. On many flights they only have a couple of rows allocated to business class (sometimes just one) so several rows in Y class will often be in front of the wing.
