Arriving At SBBR/Brasilia Int'l - Questions!

Sun Feb 06, 2011 5:28 am

I will be arriving at SBBR next month, on Delta. Who amongst you have had any experiences with immigration/Baggage Claim out there?

A friend told she was quite surprised the way things are handled there. She arrived from MIA on AA and it took over 1 hour to pass through customs/immigration, get her bags and walk out the door.

I'd appreciate any info. Thanks ya'll.

What your friend told you sounds similar to my experience.
I arrived on TP from LIS in November 2009. There were 4 counters open, of which 3 dealt with Brasilian nationals only, and one for foreigners. The immigration area was very cramped and it took about 45 minutes to clear it. Once through, arrival area is very small and cramped, and we had to wait in line to clear customs. From disembarking to clearing customs it took little bit over 1 hour. This was my only entry into Brasil, so cannot compare to other airports. It is worth to note that our flight was the only international arrival at the time ( fully loaded A330)
I prefer to be crazy and happy rather than normal and bitter
