What Are The Boarding Procedures On DL?

Tue Mar 08, 2011 8:10 pm

For domestic (MD88) and international(B757-200).
Just trying to inform someone flying in a few days and have them prepared.
Will the rear seat pax be boarding first and then middle seat and so on? I understand First Class and High Volume Sky Miles members will go first though.
Thanks.

First class first, then gold to diamond medallion, then silver medallion (some other people mixed in I believe). Then zone 3 and 4 (back to front)

Depends on what airport you're leaving from. At MDW it's mass chaos. Sporadic enforcement of zones at best.

In a related question, does anyone know what row numbers divide the different zones or groups on different airlines?

Officially as follows:

Pre-board - anyone needing extra time down the jetway (children, handicapped, elderly, etc.)
First/Business Class
Zone 1 - SkyPriority customers (generally Diamond/Platinum/Gold Medallion, SkyTeam Elite Plus, Alaska MVP Gold)
Zone 2 - Silver Medallion, SkyTeam Elite, Alaska MVP
Zone 3 - Rear half of economy
Zone 4 - Front half of economy

First Class, Zone 1 and Zone 2 passengers can board over the SkyPriority carpet at any time during the boarding process. Zones 3 and 4 are to board over the general boarding lane.

I was under the impression that those in zone 2 couldn't use the sky priority lane at any time....

Now I'm not sure what "expedited" printed on my BP means, nobody seems to know

All the announcements I've heard when I'm running late to the gate is that Zone 2 was invited over the SP lane.
