New AeroSvit Livery - Yikes! - Your Opinion?

Tue Mar 22, 2011 8:33 am

Recently AeroSvit of Ukraine revealed new livery and it is, to be fair, a total disaster! See for you self:

This livery follow the new liveries from Donbassaero and Vindrose, which are somewhat simlilar, only colors are different.

Seriously think that the Ukranian airlines need to hire a new advertising company to create their corporate profile.

What do you guys think?

At least it's different from most of the new boring liveries (Finnair *cough* Malaysian *cough* , JAL)
It's very 1970s, I actually like these shouty bright liveries like Aero Peru, Braniff, Ecuatoriana or Surinam Airways had.

I don't mind it at all.

It shows Ukraine's distinctive national colours, it stands out among the dozens of near-all-white planes at the airport, and it demands attention.

That sounds like a marketing dream!

Are all these carriers owned by the same company?

Seeing as Donbassaero also operates in the same market as AeroSvit, and I thought was a seperate carrier, seems strange to see this carrier use a similar livery template.

Its unique, but badly done in detail. As example you cannot recognize the flag, the curvature in the front top is not smooth...

It looks like they used MS Paint to create this. I'm not a fan, to put it mildly.

You can do better with MS Paint, even the old XP version. To put it mildly. On the other hand, it is easier to make a paint in MSPaint than to actually paint such a livery. Whenever you start to make something round, costs go up.

Similar thought from me. The livery should be distinctive and this definitely delivered the message of AeroASvit being a Ukrainian airline. I'm a fan of the EI livery and it always stands out in airports as the green top is distinctive.

I agree that the actual design could be better, the yellow enclosing the blue on the main body seems odd. Perhaps having the blue joined up to the tail would look a bit better. And perhaps making the curvature at the front match the shape of the B767 nose?

As an Airbus and NASCAR fan, I love it...reminds me of the old Dale Earnhardt (Sr.) Wrangler colors!

Beats the Finnair redesign for sure...

Love the yellow background and Blue. What is so exciting about whites, dark blue and gray used by so many airlines.

What a shame they could not go for the Windrose livery. They have (had?) a really smart livery.

What!

No Euro-white airframes? Perhaps the UN can convene a committee on this matter.

How dare those AeroSvit people -- thinking for themselves rather than following everyone else.

I have no idea but I hope there is a trend against the generic white fuselage & panted tail look.

That's quite the livery. Definitely a departure from the so-called understated generic euro white bleh.

I'm concerned about how the color will stand the test of time though. Vivid colors on airplanes tend to fade and stain faster, espacially when painted on the 'roof' of the fuselage where it's exposed to the sun and rain directly and constantly.

On the OP picture, the topside yellow looks a bit duller than underneath, although that could be a light effect, since the livery is new.

Still, it's bold, brave and stands out like a d#&@ on a horse. Kudos to them.
I'll do my own airline. With Blackjack. And hookers. In fact, forget the airline.

Hope they don't plan on flying to China, I don't think any Chinese will get on a red plane. Doesn't it mean death in their culture? I don't even want to get on those planes and I'm not superstitious. Maybe the red is to hide leaking hydraulic fluid.

Well said, this new livery demands attention and it certainly stands out at any airport. A job well done in my opinion.

Looks very Ukranian with the yellow and blue; very similar to the Irish green of Aer Lingus...

I like it because it's very destinctive (and different)...

"Sobering" is not a term I would use. That much color is anything but sober.

But I like it.

I actually quite like it.

The only thing I would change is the font and position of the 'Ukrainian Airlines' text, and move the reg to below the windows. Other than that, great!

If you haven't noticed, the Chinese flag is all red with yellow symbols

Absolutely stunning! I am a big fan of these new liveries, all of them, and hope to fly in one of these aircraft soon. To me, the livery is a bit "bling bling", a bit over the top, but then a very nice change to the boring new liveries we have seen in recent weeks.

I think it's awesome. National colors are prominent and now make the airline easily recognizable.

Congrats to them!

See here how I would make a light make over.

While your design is better (seems smoother, somehow), this style of livery is the first one (along with its sister airlines' planes) that would make me yearn for some Eurowhite if I saw a whole tarmac full of them.

I'm not sure the effect of effectively painting a smaller fuselage shape on the aircraft in any colour looks all that great - the red and sea green/blue looks especially terrible if you're a fan of the colour wheel. It looks ok in theory in a flat side-on drawing, but there's just something that doesn't quite translate well to the curves once it's on a three dimensional object. The funny thing is, in the thumbnails where it appears that the blue goes all the way under, it looks a lot better.
