A Better JAL Livery Concept

Sat Mar 26, 2011 1:32 am

Minimalist and yet stylish keeping with the Zen look, Crane facing forward is much better too minus acronym.

I actually prefer the current new livery over this concept. I don't really like the oversized crane.

Looks good...but I think a small JAL name should be in white within the crane.... Just my 2 cents.

Sadly, we won't see any JAL logo again on a 747.

Crane can be shrunk, there is always room for adjustment, also it represent rising Sun from the grey accent.

I like this better than their plain white... I think I would like anything better than that. I like this because it captures all three liveries and it is not boring. However, knowing JAL, they will probably think it is a bit much. I guess they want to keep things simple and light to reduce fuel costs.

Why not put the crane on the body?

Or perhaps do something like what United did with the Tulip... making it white and fading into some sort of crimson red background? Perhaps even something to represent 'the rising sun' with maybe the crane in the middle of the sun?

The current new look with the reintroduced crane just looks incomplete. Almost like its a chartered aircraft in a temp scheme.

The idea was to show what conservative JAL could do have done to their livery in reality, as laxboeingman pointed out it has elements of all three liveries of the past, so its an evovled design, not something radical or totally new.

Quoting 777way (Thread starter):

I don't like it simply because it copies others like United (old, but still) and Delta that have gone with the oversized cut-off logo on the tail.
