Domestic 777 Flight?

Tue Mar 29, 2011 5:20 pm

I have never flown on a 777, and I would very much like to. However, most of the international flying I do is to Mexico, and it's usually on an AA MD-80. Can anybody recommend a domestic route originating at ORD on which I could be reasonably assured of flying on a 777?

Pretty sure AA puts a 777 on ORD-DFW. Also AA has MIA-LAX on a 777 and MIA-JFK. These 777 flights come and go due to the 777 has to be used for seasonal extra flights to europe or south america but at some point there is a 777 on DFW-ORD, MIA-LAX and MIA-JFK.

DL has a 777 on ATL-LAX. Also DTW-LAX time to time. Just find the right one otherwise you'll end up on something else.

UA deploys their 772 on the ORD-DEN, LAX-IAD, ORD-HNL and etc.

I'm flying on UA's 772 (Domestic Config.) and on UA's 772 (International Config.) this summer ORD-DEN-ORD.

It's the 3:15PM flight to DEN and 8:43AM flight to ORD.

You should check out UA' website, they tend to deploy their 767s and 777s on hub to hub flights.

I'm too lazy to copy the flight details, so I just prnt screened it for you. I don't know what the price is as I used my UA miles to book the flights.

And if you book it now, UA 570 has Row 17 still available (the Economy Plus Bulkhead) I would've paid the extra $42.00 to get that seat but it's over the wing, so the view is significantly blocked.

But if you want the ultimate 777 experience, I suggest DL's 77L service from ATL to LAX, the GE-90 Engines are beast! Take-off is definitely an experience on these T7s.
It's a cultural thing.

And ATL-DTW.

UA runs 777's between many of its hubs (eg: ORD-DEN, etc).

If you went a little further to Canada, one of AC's daily YYZ-YVR-YYZ flights is a 777-200LR. It's the domestic sector of the YYZ-YVR-SYD flight.

I think UA has a 777 ORD-IAD which connects with UiA's IAD-MEX flight. Perhaps that may work for you ? Or else look the other posts in this thread.

I've flown domestic 777's on ORD-DFW on AA in the J class cabin, and ATL-LAX on DL's 77L in Y class cabin. Below, I'll link my trip reports from both of those trips.

DFW-LAX On The Delta 77L! (by Super80DFW Mar 23 2011 in Trip Reports)

Both trips were phenomenal.
