Bit of an odd thread but hey, I like odd things.

I flew on a Divi Divi air BN2A islander a year before it crashed just of the coast of the Island of Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles.

Picture of the Islander in question:

R.I.P. to the pilot who was the only fatality on the flight.

I have also flown on the Fokker 50 PH-KVK whose gear collapsed on landing at Heathrow in 96. The plane was fixed and put back in service and you couldn't tell it had had an accident.

Two that I am aware of:

V3-HFW Tropic Air Grand Caravan that I flew Key Caulker - Belize City on in 2002 ended up in the drink off Belize City in 2005. Thankfully all survived

G-BGYL Boeing 737-200. Flew on it with its original owners, Britannia from Gatwick to Geneva in 1983. The aircraft was sold to COPA and unfortunately nosedived into the Panamanian jungle in 1992 killing all 47 on board

When I was in the military I flew home from SFO-ORD on the American DC-10 that a year later had the engine that ripped off and crashed at ORD.

I was piloting D-ALCQ many times before it crashed in RUH last year. My 2nd most popular shot on A.net is that aircraft...

Yes, two of them.

On 4th October 1996 I flew from Harbin to Beijing on a China Northern Airlines MD-82 (B-2138). On 7th May 2002 it crashed with an inflight fire near Dalian killing all 112 on board.

On 24th July 2006 I flew from Tashkent to Tehran on an Iran Air Boeing 727-200 (EP-IRP). On 9th January 2011 it crashed in bad weather near Urmieh (Iran) killing 77 of 105 on board.

Flew on VT-EHN, A300B4 (former Air India, subsequently Ariana Afghan Airlines) when it was coming out of a MX check before it was handed over to Ariana.

Glad it eventually skidded off the runway in IST without loss of life, and was scrapped.
Its general condition was poor.

PH-MBN from DTW-AMS in 1988

The only one I specifically know of. There may have been others...possibly a DC-8 in Africa somewhere...

Millions of people have flown on planes which later found an unfortunate demise.

I flew on F-GZCP 11 months before the crash, in July to DXB. Funnily enough, when we landed back in CDG there was a fire somewhere on the landing gear, so we were followed back to the stand with fire engines! I remember everyone looking around panicking when the front facing camera showed lots of smoke billowing out from somewhere on the plane!

I flew a few times in VAT

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Ardmo...ool/Cessna-172R-Skyhawk/1472161/L/ (I can't figure out embedding it sorry)

A week after I last flew it, someone (on his first flight with a passenger after getting his ppl!), landed at Thames with a tailwind, floated, touched down late, panicked and ran off the end of the runway into the sewage pond!

Shame, it was a really nice handling (and quite new) a/c

EDIT: Just explaining my inability to perform such a simple task as embedding a photo!! tehehe

Man, I can hear the jokes from the airport bums a mile away...poor guy.

I've flown a few C172's that have met untimely ends (not my fault or involvement!)

One of my very first flights, if I am reading the tail number correctly, was on Delta DC-9 N1281L. This aircraft became N904VJ, the one that crashed in the Everglades with ValuJet.

My girlfriend flew on the Spanair MD-80 that crashed in Madrid.

In July 1973 I flew from NAS Cubi Point in the Philippines to NAS Agana Guam on a US Navy A-3 Skywarrior in our squadron. About 2 months later, the aircraft was lost on a ferry flight from Guam to Cubi Point.

All five onboard were recovered from the ocean by a JMSDF ship after bailing out. They were very lucky as the aircraft was almost 800 miles off course due to failure of both compasses and other navigational failures.

The first aircraft I ever flew solo.

It was a glider at the air cadet gliding school in Comox. A year or so after getting my license there was a huge storm that came barreling up the Straight of Georgia, and with the poor glider sitting tied down out on the airfield, all it's brethren in the hanger, it destroyed itself. It was tied down at the points a third of the way out the wing, and at the nos, but the way the wind was, and the fact that it reached about 115 km/h, the wings flew themselves off the plane, and in the proscess mangled the rest of the fabric fuselaged SGS2-33A.

I was very sad...although it is being rebuilt, and will once again fly some day.

Another plane, this time a tow plane, C-FTUG, caught fire while taxiing a week after I had flown in it.

Funny looking plane.

Anyways, that is all that I can think of right now.

Cheers,

I flew on GA B734 flight GA 200 from CGK to JOG on the 4 March 2007 for a holiday with my family and return to CGK with train on the 10th.

On the 7 of march 2007 three days after my Garuda Indonesia flight GA200 with the same B734 i was flying overshoots the runway at JOG due to the plane coming with to much speed and to near with the end of the runway touch ground only roughly 700 meter before the end of runway,The aircraft burns in flames at the end of the airport complex killing 20 of it's passengers.

Investigators conclude it's a fatal error made my the captain by landing to fast , the weather was very clear during the day, very avoidable air crash.

Is there any way of knowing which aircraft my wife flew on AF0051 09-Apr-09 from ORD to CDG, or AF0050 19-Apr-09 from CDG to ORD? I've wondered if either could have been the same A330 that crashed shortly thereafter as AF 447.

I flew N334AA once doing AA 947, BOS-DFW in probably 1999 or 2000. I'm not sure why I remember the reg, because I wasn't really into looking at them then, but I remember 334 seemed weird because the numbers were in order. 3 to 4. I remember there was a tear on the side of my business class seat that was very small, but it annoyed the crap out of me. Of course, that could have been fixed by 2001, but it was small enough it might not have. I also remember the 762's having some weird section of economy that was sort of by itself. There are perhaps 2 rows in a small area completely sectioned off on the sides. It was a nice place to fly, and I believe a premium seat.

I've also flown N36N, which is our aircraft. It was plowed into by a Beech Baron going rogue at full throttle down the tarmac. It was full of fuel as well, tip tanks and all. The propeller of the Beech tore into the tip tanks like the teeth of a shark. It shredded the wing and the wing sort of fell over limp with fuel gushing everywhere. The aircraft then went on to hit another plane before it's engine finally shut down. No one was hurt fortunately.

It's funny, because insurance did NOT want to write that plane off, but rather attach a new wing. Which is sort of crazy since a new wing would cost more than the plane was worth, and my dad felt funny about flying around an aircraft with a wing strapped onto it. I'm not sure what he said or did to get them to change their minds, but we ended up with a different 335, which was imported from Panama.

In 1988 I flew aboard United Airlines' DC-10 N1819U, which, historians recall, crashed the following year in Iowa. Presumably, the chronic fault that caused the crash might well have been there (albeit to a lesser extent) the day I flew aboard this DC-10.

My flight was UA 106, from Los Angeles to Chicago.

I flew in a Wings West C-99 that later crashed, due to a mid-air over San Luis Obispo, California.

IIRC, the collision happened in 1984 and the other aircraft was a small Cessna, a C-150 or C-172. All 14 people on both aircraft were killed.

The accident flight was EM-682 and happened near SBP.

I flew on this airplane several months before the accident in SBP. I flew it between LAX and MCE. I was stationed at MER at the time.

A few KC-135s I had flown on also later crashed.

In early December, 2008, I flew on Continental Express (Colgan Air) DHC8-400Q, N200WQ from ERW to BWI. In February 2009, N200WQ crashed near Buffalo, NY operating flight 3407. I took a picture of the plane at the gate just before boarding, and while the registration is not visible, I recognised the nose gear door number "784".

On July 13, 2001 I flew LAX-ORD to attend my high school reunion. This flight was UA 106 and the aircraft was 757-222 N591UA. This was the 911 aircraft that went down in Pennsylvania....... I actually did not realize this until a few years later when I was reviewing my flight log. Creepy.

Cheers anyway,

I also flew on a Republic DC9-30 in 1985 (jumpseat as I worked for the FAA at HOU FSS at the time) from Houston Hobby to ORD piloted by Capt. John Maus. On August 18th, 1987 Capt. Maus was piloting Northwest 255, a MD82 from DTW to PHX. The crew forgot to set the flaps and slats for takeoff and the aircraft subsequently crashed killing all aboard except a small girl.

Just the flight school I went to, one of their Piper Arrows. A student later geared it up, but it was repaired and put back into service.

As for commercial airplanes, I flew on N8925E twice, a NW DC-9-30, that got hijacked in 1970. But that was before my time, and of course, the airplane didn't crash, though the first officer was shot and killed.

No idea with the airliners I've flown on, but I did learn to fly on a C-150 years ago. Later on a 16 year old girl rented the plane to practice touch and goes at the airport. She never locked the seat in place so on the takeoff roll the g-forces slid the seat all the way back. She held onto the yolk when that happened and the plane briefly got airborne and veered left off the runway. Finally cartwheeling into a ditch. That put the plane in the maintenance hanger for a month.

Is there any way of knowing which aircraft my wife flew on AF0051 09-Apr-09 from ORD to CDG, or AF0050 19-Apr-09 from CDG to ORD? I've wondered if either could have been the same A330 that crashed shortly thereafter as AF 447.

I'd be interested in an answer to this too. I understand that AF has a number of A330s, but I too am curious to know whether the A330 I flew DXB-CDG in July 2008 could well have been the very same aircraft that operated the ill-fated AF447 flight.

Quoting MEA-707 (Reply 5):
I flew on the Chalk's Mallard in 2001, which crashed at Miami Beach a few years later with all 19 killed

I am pretty confident I also flew on that airplane about a year and a half before that accident.

Pan Am Clipper Maid Of The Seas. Aircraft N739PA.
Lost over Lockerbie as PA103.

Flew on that aircraft quite a few times as a kid.
On a side note, my mom was a F/A for PA and lost a very good friend who was working the flight.

All 3 CI birds. The 742, 744, and the B300. Also the Pan Am 741. Maybe the Garuda F28 as well. Not sure about the AF332 though.

I've been on the Cessna 172M "PH-TOC". She was later stolen by an escaped mental patient who crashed her in the North Sea.
