Air Canada In-Flight Entertainment

Sun Apr 17, 2011 6:06 am

I have four AC flights booked. Does their in-flight entertainment system include moving maps so you can see where you are, how high and how fast ?

We are booked on to 1 x A333, 2 x E195, 1 x B767 if this helps

yes they do. its called enRoute, and more details can be found here:

NB: for the 767, certain destinations (mainly caribbean and other sun tourist destinations) wont have AVOD. They do have the map at certain intervals between entertainment on the main screen.

The moving map has been somewhat lacking. I heard that there has been some improvment but the E195 seam to have the most problems with the map working.
The IFE system isn't top of the line but it's usually fairly good.

I've personally never had a problem with the moving map, though I have only taken 2 flights with AC. More are coming very soon though

I can easily believe it. It would be difficult to have the moving map working on an aircraft AC doesn't have...you surely meant E175 or E190, did you?

But you' re probably right. During my last two E190 flights (the discontinued AC 1147), the map wasn't working. I had some 763 and A320 flights as well, the map was working fine on both.

The map function didn't work on ANY of the E75s or E90s up until about a year ago. Now, they are active on every aircraft, however some aircraft will of course have technical issues so it may not be available on that particular flight. For me, the map has worked on every AC flight I've taken so far this year (all 15 of them - on every aircraft type).

Thanks for your help guys. It looks like IFE (especially the mapping system) is hit and miss but seems to be working in the majority of instances.

Eight weeks to go.....
