AA-DL Itins Cheaper Than AA-US..why?

Sun May 08, 2011 6:15 pm

Trying to get from DFW to GSO. AA only flies RJs (sorry - my patootis can't handle 3 hours in a 40 seater) so I'm looking at conx.

Flying an AA-DL itin over ATL is about 1/2 of the cost of flying any AA-US itin..

Any idea why?

Because DL and US are different airlines with different fares? Or am I misunderstanding the question...?

Why switch airlines anyways, instead of doing DL-DL or US-US?

AA has to compete with FLwhich flies DFW-ATL. That makes that segment of your fare way cheaper than DFW-CLT or DCA (the US transfer points). Is there any particular reason you cant do an online US-US or DL-DL connection? That would be easier and cheaper.
