Could Pax Be Charged For Bathroom Use In Air?

Fri May 27, 2011 5:23 pm

I was told by a friend of mine that Europe charges for bathroom usage in flight. Either that or they once did or considered it. I was stunned when she said that because how could you charge for an essential on a flight? And what if they don't accept credit cards or you don't have the money? "Sorry, you have to hold it or make a mess in your seat"
if any of the above is true, i just hope this is one thing US carriers don't follow up on like they do with the other fees nowadays.

Ryanair talked about this a year or so ago, but nothing ever came of it.

The big mouth that represents Ryanair floated the idea that coin-slots be placed on doors to the WCs on aircraft. I doubt that it was meant seriously as it might have come up against a host of EU laws, but it did serve the purpoes of providing Ryanair with free publicity on an otherwise low news day.

No airline in Europe has this policy so far. Let's hope it stays that way

Thankfully no airlines do this (at least not yet or that I'm aware of). However, the first airline that does do this will get to clean up my piss upon landing.

I hear you! I'm betting if they did, the planes would be like a NY subway lol.
