### Largest Int Long Haul Airlines?

What are the largest airlines by number of transcontinental routes? Basically, I want to see how much lower the European passenger count is once you exclude the intra European route system.

In terms of the numer of passengers? In terms of the number of planes? In terms of CASM? In terms of available NSM?

### RE: Largest Int Long Haul Airlines?

Hope these figures for 2010 for BA help:

1. Domestic flights: 4,404,400 passengers (14.3 per cent). 1,914,684,000 passenger kms (1.8 per cent)
2. EEA flights: 13,216,715 passengers (42.9 per cent). 14,108,381,000 passenger kms (13.4 per cent)
3. International flights: 13,199,315 passengers (42.8 per cent). 89,400,651,000 passenger kms (84.8 per cent)

Source: CAA web site.

Note that 'EEA' (European Economic Area) is EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway but excludes flights starting and terminating in the UK that are, of course, categorised as "Domestic" flights.

In terms of routes and passengers carried. Is LH still number 2 once you do not count intra Europe?

Quoting zhiao (Reply 4):In terms of routes and passengers carried

If by routes, you mean single destinations, it would be DL. LH is sixth in that aspect

In terms of passengers carried, still is DL. LH is 5th Not sure how you would distinguish intra Europe and inter-continental. Perhaps someone else can assist.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you're judging on routes themselves, of what relevance are intra-European flights. May I ask what you are actually trying to establish?
