Any Way To Search For The Reg Of A Plane You Flew?

Sat Jul 16, 2011 10:26 pm

Hey, I run into this problem all the time, and yes, I *tried* to search this question before. Is there any website you can search for the registry for the flight number and date of a flight you flew on? For example (and what I'm trying to figure out):

DL 1220, a 757-300 from SEA-ATL yesterday (15 July 2011). Any help would be be appreciated! Thanks!
Ironically I have never flown a Delta MD-90 :)

Wow thanks. Secret squirrel technology you used, or did you use some common website? I usually use http://flightaware.com and just go through every reg of the particular plane, but for some reason, N583NW and most the other 753s weren't showing up. Thanks again!

I use the website bts.gov to get the reg of flights. However the info is only available the month after your trip for example the info for June flights should be out any day now.

I use this site:
http://acarsd.org/acars_search.html

In the "flight number" box, type in the IATA number of the airline, followed by the flight number. Note the Number must be 4 characters. For example, for Delta flight number 123 you'd type in DL0123. Use the 0 as a placeholder.

Then below select "Last 7 days" instead of "today only" and below that select "HTML table" instead of "ACARS Style Output". Then hit enter.

Then it will give you a list of flights, just look for the one with the correct date. Also note flights late at night, maybe 11pm might register as taking place "tomorrow". The time listed doesn't always match up to takeoff time.

This site works for about 60% of flights. For some reason some airlines and some flights don't show up... It should list flights once they're in the air, there's no delay.

Best websites are http://data.flight24.com/ or failing which http://www.libhomeradar.org/. Bang in your flight number, aircraft rego or route, it shows you which aircraft have flown that route over the last few days.

Cheers

Now, is there any website that lets you know BEFORE the flight operates?

Flightaware will only do it for UA, CO, DL & F9.

And is there a way to find the reg for an old flight, say months or even years ago ? That would be fantastic...

BTS.gov for past flights (don't expect to find your flight you've just flown on as it takes a while)

Planespotters.net to use there list of a specific airline, aircraft and reg number (to search Flightaware mostly)

Flightaware for current or some future flights (you can find out up too a day or so but it depends on the flight and the time)

ACARS every time I try to use it either it gives me nothing or doesn't do a damn thing just freezes

But I get lucky and always catch the reg on the plane at the gate

Any recommendations on how to find registrations for Spirit and/or Horizon? Neither are listed on bts.gov.
