Delta 8700 Series Flights

Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:32 am

Howdy gang,

I'm flying in August from Richmond to Minneapolis via Atlanta. The connecting flight to MSP has an odd flight # "8773." It's a 757-200 and appears to be one of the 757's with the fancy inflight entertainment system.

It appears this flight is not part of the regular schedule but shows up from time to time at differing times of day but with the same flight #.

Any insights? I'm guessing some type of repositioing flight?

My bet would be an extra flight for repositioning purposes. Instead of just ferrying it over empty, they will sell some seats on it. I know I've seen them before on the MSP-ATL route.
