Porter Airlines Questions

Tue Jul 19, 2011 8:57 pm

Doing a day trip YTZ-YUL on PD next week and have some questions about them.

1. I didn't feel like paying extra for a seat assignment, especially since the Q400 has no middle seats. Will they let me seat select when I do web check-in or only after I get to the airport?

2. I'm planning on taking the PD shuttle from the Royal York. How reliable is it and do you need to reserve that n advance and seperately (my flight is 0825)?

3. Finally, any good places to spot at YUL? (reasons for the trip are that I've never been to YTZ, never been anyplace in Quebec, never flown PD and never been on a Q400)

(1) If I recall correctly, you can choose your seat when checking in online.

(2) It is fairly reliable and there is no need to reserve in advance. The times I've taken the shuttle, there has been plenty of space available.

PD is a great airline. for spotting, you would be looking at going to Avenue Jenkins which is parallel to RWY 24L-06R.

Check it out on Google Maps using Street View, its a great spot for watching planes take off and land.

If you go down to the spotting guide section of this page, you will find all you need in a fantastic informative .PDF

Thanks for the help guys! My trip's tomorrow and I found the shuttle stop at the Royal York today. I was able to get my seats today when I checked in-got windows both ways. Not sure if I'll have time to spot at YUL, as I've found quite a lot to do there (and I won't have a car).
