MU AB6-has Anyone Been On One?

Mon Aug 08, 2011 8:17 am

I'm scheduled to fly on a MU A300-600R on 21 August on an evening flight from SHA to SZX.

Has anyone been on one of these birds before? How are they?

I am jealous of you, I have recently been stuck often on 737 NGs in mainland china.

But I did recently fly on an A300 again 2 weeks ago with TG.

the MU 300s seem to have decent legroom. its a bit more worn down, in comparison to the CI and TG AB6 that I have been on a few times, but you might not have the same taste as me, I love the retro feel of the cabin even TG now has removed the 70's seating cloth, and CI had the newer cloth as well before they retired them.

Flew on one SHA-TAO about a month ago. They are pretty nice birds, much better than a cramped 737. For the couple of hours on board it will be fine. Our flight was just over an hour, so we had a sprightly take off. Seats etc were pretty comfortable. Enjoy the trip.

Yes, I have. A few years ago I flew it between Shanghai and Tianjin. It was comfortable for a short trip like that, but was REALLY worn down.

I used that plane on exactly the same route. Flew BJS-SHA the evening before, slept at their horrible airport hotel, continued the next morning from SHA to SZX. As we flew a new A330 or A340 the evening before with the same airline, this was a blast from the past...

The plane was old, seats were old, moving map was shown on huge screens that deploy from the ceiling with old projectors. I was in heaven, but "common travellers" would not call this modern at all... Breakfast was ugly.

However I felt safe and the flight was fine. Consider yourself lucky to fly those seldom planes...
