Getting To Stansted

Sun Aug 14, 2011 12:00 pm

Hello everyone,

August 29th I will be flying from STN to AMS (EZY3005 Dept. 16:05). I will be docked (coming from cruise ship which my dad works on) near Tilbury Town Station. For a while now I've been trying to find the easiest way to get there but I'm getting different answers everywhere. Looking at my London Connections map (tube and train) and the Stansted website I should be able to take the c2c to West Ham, then the Jubilee Line to Stratford and then take the National Express East Anglia to Stansted. However, I'm not able to find this itinerary on the tfl website.

If anyone could help me find the best itinerary cost/time it would be very much appreciated!

By the way, if a taxi would be much easier/faster (and not too expensive) this could also be an option.

Hi

This Itinerary is possible, but, it would take quite sometime. The trains from Stratford to Stansted leave once an hour and take about 70 mins.

A better way to get there would be to take the train from Tilbury Town to London Fenchurch Street, then its approx 10 mins walk to London Liverpool Street where the Stansted Express runs every 15 mins and takes approx 40 mins to get to STN.

Hope this helps

eastcoast.co.uk gives me travel time of 2.5 hours but had me walking between different stations in London. The price is 25 pounds. I forgot to mention there are three people traveling, oops! So thats 75 quid. Would a taxi be much more?

What eastcoast.co.uk gave me was what you said crox1. Will 75 quid or a little more get me a taxi?

Hi

www.taxiroute.co.uk puts the journey from Tilbury Town Station to STN at 40.64 miles taking 37.32 mins and costing £68.43.

So this would make a taxi quicker and slightly cheaper

Thank you very much crox1! I think we'll do that then. That would be a lot easier. Do you know if that includes traffic? The M25 of course being busy? And what taxi company should I then use?

Hi

The fare would not include traffic as that is in the lap of the gods, although dependent on the time of day there shouldn't be too much and you will only be on the M25 for 3 junctions (about 15m).

As for which company to use; you could try www.cabmania.com enter your details and either input how much you want to spend and see if any local company will take you for that price or let all the local companies quote how much.

Hope this helps

Crox1, thanks again! I will definitely be taking a taxi. I've already got a quote for 44 pounds, which I think is a fair price. I've already put the sites in my favorites, I will definitely be using it again.

Thanks
