SQ LHR A380 Types

Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:39 am

Hi,

Long time reading these forums, but first time posting.

Wondering if anyone could give a clear clarification for the a380 types SQ will be operating into LHR in jan 2012, in regard to the SQ318 flight, as the timetable had it down as the layout 1, then the all business upper deck, and back to layout 1 again.

Just a case of the last time they changed it with seats upstairs, i had to select seats downstairs, but as I now have good seats downstairs, i am considering moving them back upstairs, but if the plane type changes again, i doubt there will be many good seats left.

Many thanks

What is the seat like on the upper deck with the same ref as the lower deck seat? or don't they re-allocate them like that if they make an aircraft change?

Seats are the same with the exception of a 3-4-3 downstairs compared to a 2-4-2 upstairs.

I find the cabin upstairs is also quieter compared to down below.

Yes I was reallocated downstairs when they switched it to the all business upper deck, I may switch back upstairs but all window seats have been snapped up already!

Edit: The old configuration is doing the SQ318 02/01/12 to 07/01/12

Many regards

Coincidence! I just booked yesterday to fly SQ LHR-SIN-SYD next February in Y. When I chose my seat on the outbound leg on SQ321 I was only able to chose the lower deck, On the return leg on SQ322 I was able to choose the upper deck. It seems as though they are operating two different configurations on the LHR route.

Does anyone have any knowledge of which registrations operate in which configuration?

Last time I checked:

317 & 322 (LHR SIN & SIN LHR) currently run the layout 1 configuration
321 & 318 (LHR SIN & SIN LHR) currently run the all business class upper deck

I have flown the plane before, and I prefer the upper deck, even though it can be full when there is plenty of space downstairts, it feels quieter to me.

The only flight I avoid is the 322 arrival into LHR as it arrives at the crack of dawn. Done it once, never again, I prefer the 7pm arrival.

Many regards

9V-SKL was the first A380 with the new configuration, delivered in June 2011.
Very soon we will see MSN 071 and MSN 065 arriving from Airbus as well, which will carry the regs of -SKM and -SKN.

On the 2 class upper deck layout, seats 82 A/C & 82 H/K are superb - there are essentially only two rows aft of the exits and the rear most row (82) has the only window. Whilst the recline is slightly less than the other seats, the legroom is huge and you get the nice storage bins under the window too. I couldn't believe it when I checked in at MEL and 82 H/K were still free ....

Enjoy your flight, whatever the config!
