AA 757 LAX-HNL Service

Tue Nov 01, 2011 1:41 am

Does anyone know if any of the AA 757 LAX-HNL service has the updated cabins? I would hate to fly such long flight on those old first class seats with no winged head rests.

If AA was smart, they would update these birds that have longer flights.

Don't know of they have been upgraded. But LAX-HNL isn't any longer then BOS-LAX, which has more biz traffic and I would assume would see an upgrade first. And if I am not mistaken, the 757's of AA can fly any segment and our interchangeable.

Any AA 757 can fly to Hawaii? Are they all ETOPs?

Good question. AA does have quite a few overwater routes for their domestic configured 757s, but I'm not sure if they operate subfleets like UA does.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

While AA only has one configuration for domestic 757s (except now the variation with additional 2F), they do have a sub fleet of birds dedicated to ETOPS (Hawaii) operations. However, these birds are not limited to only flying Hawaii routes. Often times, you'll see inbound planes from DFW, MIA, and MCO turning into the flights out to Hawaii. Additionally, a lot of the time, red eyes from Hawaii will turn around to be morning flights back to the islands.

I have been seeing more and more 757s with new interior and I know at least 10 of them have been retrofitted. Wish they would concentrate on getting the ones that will most likely perform LAX-MIA, LAX-MCO, LAX-BOS, LAX-HNL which are longer routes. I have been on them only on MCO-DFW and MCO-MIA.
