Your Most Travelled Route

Tue Nov 15, 2011 6:33 pm

Hi all,

What is your most travelled route? Not necesarily direct, just airport to airport.

As my name suggests mine is KEF-SRQ/TPA/SFB

I'm a big fan of SRQ, it's a great airport for it's size.

Historically LAX-SFO -- well over 200 times, followed by LAX-JFK at about 90 times.

Currently most frequented route - LAX-DFW - 26 times so far in 2011.

OMA-DCA for me.* OMA-ATL is probably a pretty close second.

*I have no idea how many times I've actually flown it, just that it's been lots and lots.

Historically, mine was PIT-MNL (or the reverse). Now I think it's a race between MNL-SIN and MNL-AMS.

JNU-SEA or SEA-JNU, easily. Any time we go south (almost always, there's not much north of here) we have to fly through SEA. 18 years x at least one trip per year x two of those routes per trip = 36 times. I'd estimate it to be more like 50 though, accounting the years we take more than one trip. Pretty amazing.
Flown on: C150/172/206, DHC-2/3, AS350, J32, Q400, CR7/9, E135/40/45/75, DC9, A320, B732/4/7/8/9, 744, 752/3, 763, MD80

My most most common route is SEA-XXX-MCO at 17 times (via MEM, MSP, DEN, DTW, and 4 trips nonstop).

In terms of airport pairs, SEA-ORD and SEA-MSP are currently in the lead (10 each), but MSP will take the lead next month.

DTW-STL on NW and now DL. I never counted how many times, but over 100 for sure. About 80% were on DC-9s. Before the DC-9s were retired on large numbers it was probably closer to 95% of my DTW-STL flights were on them. I have also flown ARJ-85, CRJ-900, and A319 to STL from DTW. I am flying and E170 to STL next week, but a DC-9 back to DTW.

I would have to say JNB-CPT-JNB, followed by JNB-FRA-JNB. I'm not sure how many times but I flew JNB-FRA-JNB at least twice a year from 1990 until 2008.

When my dad used to live in MCI, he'd fly me up on WN twice a month as OKC-MCI-OKC. But I think I've finally passed that with VIE- or SZG-OKC

I don't have an exact count, but it would have to be SFO/OAK - EWR/LGA/JFK something like 25 times round trip, and JFK-NRT round trip probably around 12 or 13 times.

OSL-EVE (according to flightmemory.com which has my flights since 2006 recorded)

Seeing, as OSL is 8597 miles away, and EVE is 8477 miles away from my home airport. I think that is pretty good!

Of course this is from my trips every year back to EVE from PER. The only reason this sector is the most flown, is because this is the only necessary sector.

Last year my top route was PVG-SIN for the first six months followed by PVG-SYD/MEL for the second half of the year.

It has to LAX-DFW or DFW-LAX, mostly on AA DC10s.

Second may be IAD-LAX. All UA birds, and I flew on ether 777s or A320s .

DTW-STL on NW and now DL. I never counted how many times, but over 100 for sure. About 80% were on DC-9s. I am flying and E170 to STL next week, but a DC-9 back to DTW.

I still book the DC-9 every chance I get! Thanks to NW (and DL), I've still got the the DC-9-30 and DC-9-50 in my top five flown aircraft models (with the DC-9-40 registering a bit lower). My most commonly flown airport pair is STL-MSP by a wide margin, it seems I almost always connect in MSP one direction or the other of each trip. It helps that there was a decent chunk of 2007-2008 where NW always seemed to offer XXX-DTW-MSP-STL as the cheapest option to get home from the east. As a segment qualifier, I didn't complain.

My most common O&D city pair is STL-CHI, though that is split between ORD and MDW. STL-MKE and STL-YYZ are both right behind Chicago and would tie for my highest O&D airport pairs.
