Twov At Beijing, Possible?

Fri Dec 09, 2011 12:25 pm

I'm starting to think about my next RTW trip and I'm noticing that CA has extremely cheap fares to Asia from the US, like as cheap as 581 dollars one way from Denver to Hong Kong.

However, all of the flights i've seen connect in Beijing, so, it got me to wondering if one can transit through there without a visa.

Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance for whatever information you can provide.
Yes, I'd like to see airbus go under so Boeing can have their customers!

IIRC As long as you stay in the same terminal (which would be the case when flying on one CA ticket), and staying at the airport less than 24 hours, you don't need a visa.

- Hi Scott, I connected NRT-HKG via PEK 2 years ago, no problems if the same terminal it seems.

No visa if you stay less than 24 hours. The PEK airport website is quite informative..

Thanks for the information. I feel better now about transiting through Beijing without a visa.

If you transfer through PEK, you'll receive a 24-hour "visit pass" which allows you even to leave the airport. If you want to visit Beijing for a few hours on a long connection, you can certainly do that.
