Was Today DL 8900 Flight A Charter?

Sat Dec 31, 2011 6:00 am

This after noon, I saw a DL 747 on approach to LAX runway 24. Now I knew DL operated A332 on their LAX-NRT-LAX route now, so I decided to look this flight up on Flight aware. When I looked the flight up on Flight aware, I saw that the 747 was use to fly from MSN-to-LAX as DL flight 8900. This route seems to be a waist of a 747, so I wonder, was this a charter or a sub for a smaller jet? BTW, the 747 flew back to DTW.
