Air New Zealand (LAX-RAR) Question.

Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:20 pm

Hey guys,

I'm looking to go to RAR (Rarotonga) Cook Islands. I know Air New Zealand flies direct from LAX to RAR on Sundays (as Air New Zealand flight 19). It comes back to LAX from RAR on Saturday night as Air New Zealand Flight 18.

Well we don't want to stay in Rarotonga only 6 days and I was wondering if these flights 18/19 are operated any other days of the week. Is it only once a week to RAR from LAX? We don't want to backtrack to Auckland for 5 hours so we can fly back to LAX for 12.5. We rather do a direct flight from RAR to LAX

At least if we had some time to visit NZ... but the layover is 1.5 hours...

Thanks in advance

Vio

Have you tried to look for a flight via Tahiti (PPT)? Unless you're looking at NZ only of course. I have no idea what fares are, but I'd guess not cheap.

Cook Islands aren't a big place and Oceania in general tends to have infrequent air service (excluding Australia, NZ and Fiji). There aren't any frequent long-haul flights.

I just read your post and it prompted me to look at flights. I just booked us going to RAR August 26th and returning September 1st.

We are taking the NZ 763 down there. Can anyone tell us how their 763s are? AVOD?

We are very excited!

Was in RAR 3 years ago did the same flight. ANZ's coach product is nice. PTV's pretty good legroom. You'll get dinner on both legs if I recall. Sit in the back so you can disembark quicker (two sets of stairs). Customs moves a little slow.

You picked the best time of year to go. By far my favorite island in the world and I've been to quite a few.

Enjoy it.
