Longest Domestic Flight

Fri Jan 27, 2012 5:30 am

Anyone out here know the longest domestic flight for the continental US?? What about the world?

My guesses:

Cont. US: MIA- SEA
Unitedstates : EWR - HNL
WORLD: CDG - RUN

The question has been asked several times before.

I think what was found were:

Cont. USA: Miami-Seattle
USA: Newark-Honolulu
World, nonstop: Paris-St. Denis de la Réunion
World, with stops: Paris-Papeete
World, overflying primarily own country: Moscow-Anadyr

Thought EWR-SIN was the longest on SQ 21/22.

Not domestic.

BLI-EYW. However, we'll have to stick with AS's SEA-MIA for longest domestic in the CONUS.

Yup, it looks like EYW-BLI would be slightly longer than PQI-SAN.

HA's new JFK-HNL will be slightly longer than UA's current EWR run when it starts in June.

ANC-PHL is second, but only to EWR-HNL. EWR-HNL is quite a bit further. And ANC-PHL is quite a bit further than the rest.

US domestic-only considered here, of course.

By the way, when it existed, this was probably the longest domestic flight, albeit with stopovers in other countries: Paris CDG-Muscat-Colombo-Singapore-Sydney-Nouéma. Hard to beat

For those interested, I believe the longest one within Europe is OSL-LYR (Svalbard).

Reunion isn't defined as a part of Europe though. Kind of in the same way that Turkey is partly in Europe and partly in Asia, or Greenland is in North America, even though it's a part of Denmark.

Yeah, that's true. But doesn't OSL-Svalbard stop on the way? And are you sure it's longer than KEF-MAD/MXP/BCN? Just wondering.

Russia is the same way, partly in Europe and partly Asia.

I will be on that flight in July. I would have actually preferred EWR to JFK, but the promo fares from JFK were impossible to resist!

Some flights go via TOS, but there are nonstop flights too, atleast in the summer schedule.
KEF-MAD/MXP/BCN are intra-european flights, not domestic.

This is true, however see the OP. The OP also asked the following:

It is if you are talking about political Europe.

For political Europe maybe, but for geographical Europe the longest is MMK-AER at 1,771 miles, operated as summer charters. The longest year round scheduled flight would be LED-MCX at 1,385.

Quoting mozart (Reply 1):

VKO-PKC at 4,228 miles or if that isn't operating any more, DME-PKC at 4,214 miles.

He's asking for the longest domestic flights within the US, plus the longest domestic flights in other countries.

The latter could be any flight which begins and ends in the same country, but EWR-SIN does not fall in either category.

UU's twice-weekly 777 service CDG-RUN-SYD-NOU is almost as far.

Not geographically but it is politically. In any case that issue isn't relevant to this thread since CDG-RUN is certainly a domestic route.

I'm sure that wasn't the original poster's intent. The entire thread involves domestic services only per the thread subject. I took the "world" reference to mean services between CDG and the French Territories (PPT/NOU etc.) or mainland U.S.-Guam etc.
