BA226 ATL-LHR Diverted

Sat Feb 25, 2012 4:35 am

We have been diverted due to no water on the plane - lavs inop. Sitting on ground in JFK.

Are you on board? I'm showing the flight number as 23T.

Once a BA LGW-BWI flight diverted to YHZ because LGW hadn't serviced the lavs. I was amazed how quickly YHZ serviced the lavs (and the pax!) and sent the plane onto BWI. The 767 arrived less than an hour late.

What would like the other contributors on the board to do? Send you some wet-wipes by Fedex?

ATL-LHR and diverted to JFK. Soooo you had water but looks like not enough. Who ever was in charge on the ground will prob get a call into the managers office about this. This of course if it was a mx problem which of course happens. Guy the other day sent a plane out without water and it diverted. Costly mess up and the company has zero tolerance for it. Always check the lav and water.

Did the ground crew in ATL just forget to add water, so the only water onboard was the water from the inbound flight? Personally, I'm surprised they made it all the way to JFK without realizing that they were low on water. I would have thought that they would have noticed it by the time they were near IAD.

If they were at cruise near IAD, JFK would be a good place to land - a sufficiently easy descent and burn a little more fuel so they don't have to buy so much extra at JFK.

Hey, my colleague was on that flight too! Barely made his connection in LHR as a result...I imagine quite a few people did not.

I just checked FlightAware... is it me, or did this flight (BA226) just divert again?

It's showing a u-turn over southern Virginia and appears to be heading back to land in ATL just shortly after midnight EST.

According to BA it's due to depart ATL 4.5 hours late and arrive LHR 4 hours late, so they must be accounting for the diversion, but it doesn't actually say there is a diversion of any kind...

Flightaware now says it's a diversion, due to land in 5 minutes. Two straight days for BA226. Be funny if it turned out to be the same reason (yes, only a joke)!
