United 41 Diversion?

Thu Mar 01, 2012 4:45 pm

A friend of mine is on their way back from FCO on UAL41 and it looks like their flight was diverted from FCO to SNN .

It was then scheduled to depart from SNN a while ago and now shows that it has returned to the gate.

Does anyone out there know why ?

It was showing that UAL 40 was delayed 2.5 hours due to maintenance.

Thanks for your help!

Well for starters, UA 40, last night, was downgraded to a 757, so I am assuming the 41 diverted to SNN for a fuel stop.

Wow that's gotta suck to be on a 757 from Rome to Newark. Talk about really pushing it.

Not at all (according to many here). You get the same amount of personal space on a 757 in coach as you do in a 777 in coach, therefore there is not difference whatsoever in the "flying experience."

Requiring a fuel stop on top of all the passengers downgraded from Business to Economy. It doesn't matter if the 757 has a better business class seat if you don't get one.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Widebodies are in short supply at CO right now with the conversions going on at HKG...

Despite the drawbacks of a 757, I think the majority of people greatly appreciate that CO had the flexibility to be able to swap a 757 onto the route rather than cancel. Not all airlines have enough flexibility to do that with their operations. One good thing with the new UA is that it has excellent technical services and operations centers.
