Very foggy here in London! When I woke up and looked out the window, my first thought was, gonna cause problems for early morning inbounds. Has the 787 actually landed? Maybe today is East Midlands (EMA)'s lucky day!

Yes: JA805A, first ever 787 to visit LHR. Now parked on a T3 stand currently looking at a departure 1000-1015 (LHR weather permitting - it is very foggy)

I wonder why not MUC or CDG as they are other cities NH serves.
Always wonderers if this "last and final boarding call" is in fact THE last and final boarding call.

This will be an interesting test for the 787, as it will need to make this turn at LHR without the help of the ANA staff dedicated to the 787 at FRA  Wow!

It seems a number of airport were affected by fog, including MUC and CDG.

FRA was experiencing some delays, but the only other flight to divert from FRA this morning was CA 965 from Hangzhou, which diverted to Berlin.

Flight diversion are usually moved to the Travel, Polls & Preferences forum, unless they're due to some serious issue, and are newsworthy by itself.

Yes I agree, not many people come to this part of the forum especially non-members who most likely don't know this bit even exists so I'd say they would be missing out on important info.

You can't just divert to any airport. It has to meet the weather criteria as a legal alternate. None of these airports probably had that. LHR was the only airport that met the requirements as well as being an airport that ANA operates to.

I heard the ANA flight on ATC as I was flying into FRA myself. The fog was not too bad, it was only CAT II approach in progress, not even CAT III at 5:30am in the morning.
I don't know why they diverted, but maybe the pilots weren't trained for low visibility operation yet or still some certification going on?

Why LHR? Most airports around FRA were foggy, CGN, DUS, STR, NUE, MUC. I heard an Air China Cargo diverting to SXF because there were "no CAT II certified".
