Mood Lighting, Is It Favoured?

Sun Mar 18, 2012 10:27 am

With the technology advancing, the cabin interior lighting has advanced with that. We started seeing a lot of lovely designs and colours within the cabin, including stars in the ceiling.

I have noticed that a lot of passengers love those amenities, especially children. On the other hand some don't. On night flights and they wish they have a very dark cabin.

I am just curious if you guys here like those sky interiors or prefer the traditional cabin lighting?

I will start by my self:
It depends on the aircraft type. on Airbus, I prefer the full blown bright white and on Boeing, The brightest available.

Personally, the start light effects seem a little tacky and mutli coloured moodlighting, although nice does seem a bit pointless in my opinion. Most passengers couldn't care less about it and in fairness, I actually prefer the slightly beige glow of the traditional lights (I'm not a fan of those bluey-white LED reading lamps on the Airbuses). The only time I think the moodlighting works is the blue/purple window lights with the new BA First, I think that works really well.

I really like the colored lighting that Virgin America uses. It really sets them apart from other airlines.
