Austrian B767-300ER How Is It To Fly With?

Fri Mar 23, 2012 6:30 pm

Planning to go to Beijing on Austrian Airlines which use B767-300ER on that route . How is that plane to fly with in Economy ? I read some negative comments about terrible seatpitch in Eco with only 30" . Any good tips for the seats ? How is inflight service with Austrian ?
Thanks for comments and advise .

According to Seatguru it has 18 red seats (out of the 240??) which is quite a lot. I personally find the B767 (without signatury lay out) horribly outdated I would avoid them any time (despite the 2-3-2 config).

I have never flown with a OS 767 so I cannot give you any further details or feedback. Hope you will have an enjoyable flight!

I've flown the VIE-IAD (also with a 763) route 14 RTs now and it's fine. I don't know about loads on VIE-PEK, but I've never had trouble getting an extra seat to myself to spread out. These are exLauda (leisure) planes, so they were designed for that service. Finally they are getting new interiors this fall/winter.

They've all got PTVs at every seat.

I can cross my legs comfortably and I'm 1.93m tall. The seats, whilst not the newest, are more than serviceable for sleeping.

Catering on all OS services is pretty good.

Flown on OE-LAY DXB-VIE once - yes the seat pitch is not super generous but if it's any tighter than any other European mainline carrier, I wouldn't have realised it. I'd say go for it - I personally had no trouble sleeping. I do remember that the headrests were in good order (easily maneuverable to rest my head and sleep).

I thought the same, however I flew OS 071 VIE-YYZ on OE-LAT a few weeks ago and it was still in the old configuration. As in Lauda old, with no PTVs, etc. I imagine it might be one of the ones they normally fly to Thailand and leisure destinations. I have flown other OS 767s with PTVs but the interior is still not as good as LH.

On the other hand, the onboard service is marvelous! FAs are always in a good mood, and they bring the warm bread basket around a few times during your meal

Needless to say Austrian bread is enough reason to visit the country and fly OS.

Oh, my. Sorry about that. I didn't realise. Well, soon enough it will be all new inside or replaced by the 772s coming in (possibly)
