Flying USA To Russia

Sun Mar 25, 2012 9:29 pm

I was just curious if anyone has recently flown Aeroflot from USA and what the service was like. Is it better to stick to a US based or western European airline?

If I had to fly to Moscow I would definitely do SQ from IAH-DME again. Loved it the first time even though I had to go all the way from DTW to IAH first, it was soooo worth it!! A great 11 hours and the fares are usually quite nice from the SQ website. Never flown Aeroflot so cant help there...

I flew coach JFK-SVO on Delta and SVO-KUF on Aeroflot in December. Even though SVO-KUF is only a short 1 hour domestic flight, the product, service and food, (yes, a meal in Y on a 1-hour flight), was far better than the JFK-SVO segment on Delta. I wish I had went on Aeroflot the entire way, I believe they use their new A330s on JFK-SVO which would definitely top the worn Delta 764.

I used the AA flight once and it was okay and the DL flight is good. The foreign carriers don't offer much more in coach.

Aeroflot tops what US carriers offer and is equal to or better than European carriers. The product on their A330s is very nice, they are nothing like the Aeroflot of the past.
