Texas-PKC - Possible Westbound?

Wed Mar 28, 2012 7:01 pm

I have an interest in visiting the Russian Far East for tourism, but all the flights I look at going to PKC transit through DME. I live in Austin and AUS-PKC is 4443 nm on the Great Circle Mapper, so obviously it is much shorter to go west rather than East.

A non-interlined itinerary is fine with me, I don't need help switching my bag from one airline to another. Maybe there is an LCC that serves Petropavlovsk to NRT or ICN?
Firings, if well done, are good for employee morale.

Surely there usually is some inaccuracy in most airport's listings, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky_Airport only list *Seasonal Charters" to NRT and ANC.

Try to look into a connection via Vladivostok.

Schedules are showing a once-weekly seasonal scheduled flight (B737) ANC-PKC-ANC on Russian carrier Yakutia (R3) operating on Thursday only in both directions between July 12 and September 12. Flight time 4:30 westbound and 4:10 eastbound.

Try KE DFW-ICN-VVO

From VVO Vladivostok Air (XF) offer service to seven cities in the Russian Far East (RFE) including PKC.
XF web site:

The fares into VVO may shock you! I have flown VVO-ICN with KE as part of a Skyteam round the world ticket. KE is an excellent airline, VVO is a very nice city to visit. I have never flown XF.
