75 Min. CDG Connection

Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:46 pm

This summer I'm booked to fly AF from IAH-CDG-LIS. I've been to CDG before, but the last time I had a schengen connection was over 5 years ago. I've searched this forum, but most of the connecting info threads are pretty old.
My question is, when I leave the inbound aircraft in 2E, I know I will clear immigration at CDG, and then need to re-clear security, probably at 2D, where the LIS flights depart from. Will I also have to claim my checked luggage and go through French customs, or will the bag just connect through to LIS?
The way I figure things, 75 minutes is do-able if the flight is on time, and not parked at a remote hardstand. Most of the time I have cleared immigration at CDG in less than 15 minutes, and the mid-morning security lines seemed to only take about 10-15 minutes. Walking from 2E to 2D should take no more than 15 minutes, so I'd arrive at the departure gate with about 20 minutes to spare. The next flight to LIS isn't for another 3 hours or so, but if i miss the transfer, AF is pretty good about re-booking you. Anyone have any recent experience and or tips to clearing security faster?

You will see the bags in Lisbon. On a flight in to Schengen followed by an intra-Schengen flight, you clear immigration at the first entry point and customs at your destination. It's tight but doable.

As said before, you will clear Schengen immigration in CDG. Your bags however - other than i.e. in the EU - will be checked through to LIS. There is no need to pass customs in CDG, as this will be done in LIS. When exiting the bagage claim area in LIS you will pass a customs area and the custom people recognize non-Schengen traveler at the bag tag. Yours will be all white, passengers departing from a Schengen airport have green stripes on the border of the tag.

75 Minutes will be fine. Although CDG is not nice to transit, it's perfectly doable in that time (however don't leave yourself too much time hanging around). Again: No need to collect your bags.
