Routes With All Three Major Alliances

Sat May 05, 2012 5:19 am

With the new LHR-ICN service on BA starting later this year, I realized that the route will now have airlines from all three alliances (BA, KE, OZ) on it.

What other routes have this?

Other than LHR-ICN I can think of:

ICN-NRT (KE, DL, JL, OZ, NH, UA)
GMP-HND (KE, JL, OZ, NH)
GMP-KIX (KE, JL, OZ)
ICN-HKG (KE, CX, OZ, TG)
ICN-TPE (KE, CI, CX, OZ, TG)
Many routes out of NRT
LAX-PVG (MU, AA, UA)
LAX-JFK (AA, UA, DL)
LAX-MCO (AA, UA, DL)

Any others?

KE also flies that, and TG doesn't.

Otherwise correct though, and fits the criteria.

Actually, TG is eliminating LAX-BKK and reinstating its one-stop to BKK via NRT.

I would guess lots of routes from LAX, as UA, AA, and DL all have decent sized operations there. One that immediately comes to mind (because it's to my home airport) is LAX-SMF, with Amarican Eagle, Delta Connection, and United Express (in addition to Southwest).

If you include connections you can possibly put every city combination in this list. I think the OP means nonstop or at least single aircraft flights.

UA hasn't flown LHR-JFK since 2006. After merging with CO, they do fly LHR-EWR however.

Great list though!

Give it up thats NOT what this thread is about . ONLY BA/QF JV and VS operate direct same flight services .
Thats Oneworld and non aligned.

No *A or Skyteam.

All others are connections over their respective hubs, and thats a very different thing.

Within China there are several all alliance routes , however thats due to political manipulation to deliberately put the differing CAAC regional branches into differing global alliances

LON-NYC market has true alliance competitions however use differing US hubs.

Certain US domestic routes have three way split and several East Asian routes.

Brussels seem to have the JFK route covered three ways however with DL retreating from JFK - EU this may just be temporary.

Great find! After the demise of Spanair I guess it's harder to find Intra-Europe routes with all three alliances on it.

Indeed, it's quite hard. Routes with 3 carriers are not uncommon, but often one of these is an LCC, But now AB has joined OneWorld, there are some possibilities.

I just realized HG (Niki) can also be considered OneWorld; it's an affiliate member backed by AB, and therefore has a similar position as American Eagle, BA CityFlyer or Air Nostrum. They also future the OneWorld logo on their website.

Two additional routes:

VIE-CDG (OS, HG, AF)
VIE-FCO (OS, HG, AZ)

KE also flies that, and TG doesn't.

That route has been discussed on its own for good reason, the competition is intense:
Is LAX-NRT the most competitive trans pacific route? (by Asianguy767 May 23 2004 in Civil Aviation)

I thought Malaysia was going to restart the route? (I'm unable to find seats though.)

So we have: AA/JL/MH?, UA/NH/SQ, DL/KE

Not only all three alliances, but intense competition within alliances.

Note: I notice LAX-HND is a fractionally lower fare on Kayak.

Quoting rutankrd (Reply 20):

EWR/JFK to LHR/LGW is definitively a very competitive market.

Only one MNL route has airlines from all three alliances: MNL-NRT (DL, NH, JL, PR, JQ). There are three routes though which are represented by two alliances:

MNL-PEK (CZ, CA, PR, 5J)
MNL-ICN (KE, OZ, PR, 5J, Z2, 7C)
MNL-PUS (KE, OZ, PR, 5J)
