SQ A380 On J

Wed May 09, 2012 1:28 pm

Hey guys, maybe a repeat post, couldnt find what I was looking for so here it goes. I just bought SQ 11 (LAX-NRT-SIN) to fly on A380, by the looks of their seat selection it is the "old" A380 (the one with Y on the upper deck). Which are the best seats? Up front in the small cabin? Bulkhead? or maybe any seat I choose will be just fine, it´s SQ J after all.
Thanks for the advice and pardon if the subject has been discussed already.

I prefer the bulkhead seats, as you do not have the triangular area in front of you. See the diff between my two TRs on SQ's A380 vs. SQ's 77W (same seat, but I sat at the bulkhead on the 77W).

Window is definitely worth it (no disadvantage in regards to aisle access like other airlines).

Many enjoy bulkheads, but be aware, seats 11A and 11K, which are bulkheads, have no windows.

The seat is excellent, and you'll be happy anywhere. I would be happy as long as I get a window seat.

They are missing one window, but generally the SQ J seats have 2-3 windows, so I can guarantee you will at least get one window. Check out my TR

when I flew, that seat looked like this (I was on 9V-SKI, don't know where this pic is from)

I would not consider that a window seat....

I've only been on the 77W, but the buldhead seats on that feel a lot more spacious over the normal seats. The A380s have either 2 or 3 rows of J class bulkhead seats, so you should be able to find one with a full compliment of windows.

Sorry, I was thinking of the 77W. You are correct. That sucks!

BTW, does anyone know the average load factor for SQ 11 and SQ 12 during the fall months? it´s a couple months in advance so I can only know average load factor, not what it will really be...

No clue but from personal experience, all SQ flights to the US (esp. the non-stop via HKG/NRT/ICN) are usually full most of the year.

I can easily get you historical loads, however looking back at fall 2011 for SQ11/12 is likely not very accurate due to the significant market turmoil experienced in Japan post the earthquake.

As you might remember SQ even delayed launch of the 380 service on the route as a result.

The BTC menu was just updated a few days ago and is looking very good! I ALWAYS book the cook my meals. If you see anything you like in particular on the menu, feel free to ask the cabin crew for a dish off the menu. Your BTC'd meal won't go to waste.
