Schedule Changes For Flights To Berlin

Sat Jun 02, 2012 6:40 pm

I was originally scheduled to fly JFK-CDG-BER on DL and AF departing July 1st. However, I received notification today that my connecting flight on July 2nd (AF 2034) was cancelled. I can only assume that this is related to the delayed opening of the new Berlin airport.

Does anyone have any idea of what the updated schedules for DL/AF/KL are going to be into Berlin as a result of this? Also, have other airlines (AB, LH) made their schedule adjustments as well?

AF's website still shows and sells seats on AF 2034 on 02-JUL departing CDG at 1255h arriving TXL at 1435h.

As this is one of the 5 flights AF is operating to Berlin, I do not think that it gets canceled.
Is your connection at CDG getting too short ?
Or you received that email due to the fact the FA 2034 is not operating into BER as planned but into TXL.
In any case you should check with the airline that issued your ticket/PNR (DL or AF).

The connection time on this itinerary should be more than enough. I'm supposed to be flying to CDG on DL 184, which arrives at 10:35am, leaving nearly 2.5 hours to connect to AF 2034. This was also one of the few times that I actually purchased through a travel website (Expedia) since my outbound is to Berlin and the return is from VCE on KL. As a result, the email notification I received was from Expedia but it clearly shows AF 2034 to TXL on July 2nd as being cancelled. I was told to call back Monday since DL / AF will have to be contacted in order to determine alternative arrangements.

I find it interesting that the AF website is still selling seats to this flight. Per the conversation with the agent that I spoke with, they have known about the cancellation for about a week.

Not only is AF 2034 on 02-JUL-2012 open for bookings (through AF's webiste and through brokers), but AF's website also shows availability for Award bookings on that very flight.

And I could not find any announcement for any strike action on 02-JUL-2012 so far.

I suppose I'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out more. My only concern is finding availability on alternative flights the same day, as I would expect July flights to be quite crowded with holiday travelers.

Thanks again for your input!

I guess this is a computer glitch. I believe they put AF2034 CDGBER on UN and rebooked as a new flight AF2034 CDGTXL automatically in your PNR. Thus you got an information that your flight is cancelled, which is correct. However they omitted to tell you that they booked you on AF2034 CDGTXL which is technically another flight, although having same flight number and same schedule.

Check your booking on the air france website and I think you should be fine. Tickets are revalidated or reissued automatically.

This is provided your ticket is on AF stock.
