Advice On C Itinerary To SIN

Thu Jun 28, 2012 8:59 pm

Hey guys

Flying from BOG to SIN and NRT in october in C. Any advice on routings? MUST be Star Alliance, though since I am a LifeMiles member and can´t afford to "loose" so many miles. My company is paying so price isn´t an issue. Thoughts on BOG-FRA-SIN on LH and SQ? or maybe BOG-JGK-SIN on AV-SQ? BOG-FRA-NRT LH-NH? I know there´s a million options, but what would you take?

Yes BOG-EWR-SIN on CO/SQ might be interesting. You could also do BOG-Europe-SIN via a variety of cities including probably catching SQ A380.

If you want to make more than 1-stop, then the routing combinations multiply. You can try some of the better Star carriers such as ANA, Asiana for example then by routing via Japan or Korea also.

Depends. I would go to JFK and then fly the A380 on SQ via FRA to SIN or the direct flight from EWR to SIN.

Another good option would be BOG-LAX (not sure if AV offers this, thought I saw an AV plane there before) and then the direct flight on NH to NRT or the direct flight on SQ to LAX.

I agree with LAX888, I would go BOG-LAX-SIN/NRT if you don't mind changing in the US.

Otherwise east through Europe, ZRH would be my choice (is there a direct flight on AV or LX from BOG?), alternatively FRA.

For the return trip, I always prefer the trans-Pacific route to the US since you generally arrive the same day. Provided you get an early flight out of SIN.

Thanks for the insight!!!

I think the best option is via LAX (going through Europe I´d "lose" 2 days due to flying eastbound), should I go A380 both ways (with a return stop in NRT) or perhaps go A380 to NRT and A345 return from SIN (I´m not so fond of a 15+hour flight, no matter how good SQ product is, OTOH, A345 on such ULH are not going to be around for long). Another option is NH, how is NH compared to SQ? Thoughts?

There is no BOG-LAX nonstop service anymore. AV dropped it late 2010, so you have to connect some place.

Also distance wise - BOG-FRA-SIN is shorter than BOG-LAX-SIN for instance if there was a nonstop.

That's a bit of a drag, I didn't know that.

This would definitely tilt me towards going via Europe. Less hassle with the connection too, no customs and immigration to deal with and no rechecking of bags.

You could also do BOG -IAH -NRT -SIN using UA all the way. I'm pretty sure there is a midnight departure from BOG to IAH that would line up nicely with the 10:50 departure for NRT. Then return on SQ via EWR and on to BOG.

If the company is paying for a C ticket, I would avoid flying any intercontinental segments on an American carrier when many of their foreign partners are going to offer much better products.

Booked the following (I know it´s not the shortest routing, but I think you´ll agree it´s the best for an Anetter)

BOG-FRA LH A346
FRA-HND NH B788
NRT-SIN SQ A388
SIN-EWR SQ A345
JFK-BOG AV A333

All in C, I´m getting roughly 60k miles with this trip (adding in status bonus, etc), this should get me to the 500k threshold, I´ll be asking advice on RTW routings with that amount of miles!!!

Looking forward to writing them!! However (and excuse the noob question), is there any tutorial on how to upload the pics, etc (and something like a step by step TR, 1. Booking, 2. Check-in, etc?) I´ve seen most TR are almost identical in structure. Please give me a hand so I can post the best TR possible!!
