Yesterday my mom flew to CCS on AA 903. The plane departed at 4:40 PM (35 min delayed). After being on the air for almost an hour and a half the plane turned back to MIA. I tracked it down yesterday and it remained looping in circles over the everglades (dumping fuel I guess). The plane landed in MIA aprox at 6:30 and it took off back to CCS at 8:12 PM. I talked to my mom today as I couldn't either comunicate with her yesterday and the AA call center really doesn't give any information at all, and she told me that there was an issue on one of the main doors of the plane and the noise was horrible. One thing I noticed is that the plane flew back to MIA at 8000 Feet. Do any of you guys have more detailed info on what happened? Im just curious of the real issue. The other thing that kept my attention is that why if it was almost half way they returned back to MIA? If it was a real emergency why just not land in a close by airport i.e NAS, SDQ, PUJ? I know that AA maintenance is here in MIA, but given the fact it was an "emergency" should the procedure be land wherever you can?
