RE: Your 5 Favourites

Assuming I'm only picking from what I have actually flown on, rather than what I would like to fly on, then the only difference to my answers posted above would be:

Aircraft:
1. Boeing 777-212ER (SQ)
2. Boeing 747-475 (NZ)
3. Boeing 777-367ER (CX)
4. Airbus A330-343X (CX)
5. Airbus A330-243 (DJ)

I have to be specific because I believe that passenger comfort is dependent on airline configuration more so than the aircraft type, and to date, the most comfortable I remember being on an economy class seat on a plane was when I flew on SQ's 777-200ER back in 2001. NZ's 34" pitch on the 744 comes a very, very close second, and CX's 77W with the non-reclining seats came third (and the A333 with the same seats came fourth as the seat on the A333 felt marginally narrower than that on the 77W, and there is more head room on board the 777 than on the A330). It may only have had 32" seat pitch, but the fact that there is no recline means that I get to keep my leg room as it is should I so choose. I flew on DJ's brand new A332 recently, and I was very impressed by the level of comfort offered by their new economy seats.

Yes, at least in my case. You can choose something you haven't flown yourself if you want. (For example, if you like the look of the A346, but haven't flown on it, you can choose it.)

It's interesting how often the A340 family appears on these lists! Pity it's no longer in production and most airlines are phasing it out e.g. Qatar, though we should see it in LH colours for many years to come.

Shocked how many people like NRT! It would be at the bottom of my list - it's a terrible airport. HND, on the other hand...

Airlines:
1. ANA
2. JetBlue
3. JAL
4. Alaska
5. BA

Aircraft:
1. Douglas DC-8
2. Bombardier Q-400
3. Boeing 777-300ER
4. Embraer Brasilia (they're just fun sometimes)
5. Boeing 747-400 (favorite to look at, not necessarily to fly on)

Airports:
1. HND!
2. JFK
3. PDX
4. SFO
5. RDM

Ok, that last one I kind of just threw in there. I do like how laid back it is, though, and it has some nice views on approach.

Haneda is the most impressive large airport I've seen, and it has *amazing* viewing decks in at least two of its terminals!

I think it depends on how you use it. I have primarily used NRT for connections on DL, for which NRT is a clean and efficient airport with the best SkyClubs in the system. Plus, favorite doesn't strictly correlate to the best - for me, the majority of airports in the USA were bumped out of position simply because they're unremarkable for an American. However, in places like Tokyo and Singapore, I can't help but associate the airports with the fact that it means I'm traveling the world, which automatically moves them up my list.

Once a year through NRT for my yearly japan trip. I absolutely love how efficient and clean it is, not to mention the staff are better english speakers than the rest of Japan, and that there's quite a bit of options here!

I love the ambiance too

Maybe compared to the USA, but not compared with the rest of Japan. I find it old, poorly laid out, with confusing signage (and I've been there 20+ times!), bad air conditioning (even for Japan), and unimpressive, generic architecture for a major airport. Its viewing decks are also unimpressive compared to HND's. And customs is always horrendous.

That's not to mention actually getting yourself to Tokyo from there. Last time my wife (who is actually from Japan) and I finally stumbled on the Keisei Skyliner, but no foreign tourist would ever figure that out on their own without extensive research ahead of time. It's just buried in the basement with all-Japanese signage. Otherwise you're stuck with the N'EX, which costs something like $50 per person, or a hotel shuttle bus that's going to take 90 minutes to get to Tokyo.

NRT does have good pre-security shopping and eating options, but that's about the best I can say about it. HND still bests it there too, though. And NRT's airside shopping and dining options are atrocious. You're lucky if you can find a convenience store somewhere near your gate.

Tampa Bay International Airport, FL (TPA)

It's Tampa International Airport......NOT Tampa BAY.

My 2 peeves....that EWR is a NYC airport(it's NOT)...and that some feel the need to include 'Bay' in everything Tampa.

My 5s are:

TPA
LGA
ICN
SNA
JFK

Delta
Pan Am
National
BOAC
BEA

747-400
Vanguard

Mine:

1. British Airways (this may become lower soon, I wasn't happy with my LHR-BOS-LHR flights)
2. Cathay Pacific (great service RUH-BAH-HKG-RUH)
3. Oman Air
4. bmi (rest in peace)
5. Icelandair (I'd put it joint 5th with AF, had a hard time choosing between the two, I need to fly FI more)
5. Air France (I loved the food and service I used to get at MAN and between CDG and RUH on the Dedicate A319s)

1. Boeing 757 (both -200 and -300, I love the fact their long narrowbodies, the range, the power, just everything about them)
2. Boeing 777 (all variants, the spacious interior, the efficiency, the layout provided it's not 3-4-3)
3. Boeing 747 (I love the old girl, it's so graceful, still rather quiet inside and was a work horse for years)
4. Airbus A32x (the entire series but only with IAE engines, I like the sound)
5. Airbus A330 (I was going to put 767 but haven't flown on them as much)

1. MAN (obviously, nearest major airport - I can't find fault besides Terminal 1 being practically windowless!)
2. KEF (I loved it, so simple, so modern, everything you needed out of a small terminal)
3. LHR T5 (only Terminal 5, the other terminals are not that great if I'm honest)
4. RUH (brilliant architecture, lots of windows, just interesting all round)
5. HKG (open, never felt crowded, plenty to do)
